Read Chapter 3 of A Whole New Mind

The chapter entitled "High Concept, High Touch" discussed our transition from the Agricultural Age into the Conceptual Age. Society is presently realizing that we need to supplement our well developed high tech abilities with abilities that are both high concept and high touch. We are learning to value greater creativity, artistry, and play. Both right and left brained activities are needed for the Conceptual Age.

Thing 4

I enjoy leaving comments, probably because I enjoy words, both printed and spoken. I look forward to receiving comments back from individuals who read my statements. The one segment that we have failed to develop in student writing is to help them to have voice. Technology provides the place for students to improve the content of their writing. Yes, I am a member of an online learning community. I just completed four weeks at the Great Bear Writing project at UCA in Conway. The participants across the country who participated in the National Writing Project are members of an online learning community.

I muddled around with putting widgets on my blog page. Don't have it down pat just yet. More practice needed. Having fun learning. My tablemates, Danielle and Kimberly are patient with me.

Personal Thoughts on Web 2.0

We've heard it said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Today's teachers refute that adage! While we are in awe at the rapid pace that technology has inundated education and our society, we are up to the challenge. Our students forge headlong into the digital world, while parents and teachers move at a more cautious pace. But, onward we go. Teachers are flexible and interested in the latest innovations concerning children and the education of children. Therefore, here we go!
